What you'll read in Year 3
Begin with Malachi, the last book of the Old Testament, and 2 Kings, as the kingdom divides and the people are sent into exile. Follow Esther from exile to the palace, rebuild the walls with Nehemiah, and read the story of God's faithfulness in 1 and 2 Chronicles. Pick up the return from exile in Ezra, then wrestle with suffering and the greatness of God in Job. Finish the year with the prophets: Daniel and the lions' den, the imagery-rich words of Isaiah, the broken-hearted prayers of Jeremiah and Lamentations, and the visions of Ezekiel. Psalms are woven in along the way.
Who it's for
Readers who finished Years 1 and 2 and want to keep going. Newcomers who'd like a gentle place to start. Anyone who has never quite known what to do with Job, Isaiah, Jeremiah or Ezekiel and would like some company and context along the way. It also makes a thoughtful gift.
Grab a pen, pick a start date and begin with today's chapter. Read Year 3 on its own, or complete the set with Years 1 and 2 for three years in God's Word.
